ENS de Lyon
This faculty exchange to the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, or ENS de Lyon, offers Northwestern faculty members a unique opportunity to collaborate with prominent scholars in literature, theory and philosophy. Of particular relevance are the ENS de Lyon’s highly regarded research centers and institutes including:
- Institut d’Histoire des Représentations et des Idées dans les Modernités (IHRIM), which brings together a group of leading scholars in the history of ideas and representations
- Triangle, which specializes in politics and political thought
- CIHAM, which studies the history, archaeology and literature of medieval Christianity and Islam
- Centre d’Etudes et de Recherches Comparées sur la Création (CERCC), which works primarily on 20th-century and contemporary literature and the arts
Early modern studies and the study of contemporary literature in English are currently active clusters of joint research between Northwestern and ENS Lyon scholars.

Northwestern employees who will be travelling abroad are advised to complete the online application for the free GeoBlue Global Health Insurance. You only have to sign up once to be covered for any additional travels abroad.
After you return
Upon your return please send a short report on your visit, including a list of talks and other relevant academic activities, to the FIG director.
