ENS de Lyon exchange
The faculty exchange with ENS de Lyon is an opportunity for Northwestern faculty to collaborate with French scholars in literature, theory and philosophy.
As part of its mission to disseminate a culture of transatlantic collaboration between Northwestern and French academia, our group sponsors one-month faculty visits to and from our partner institutions. Visiting faculty typically give one or two presentations on their current research and connect with faculty and students at the host institution. The visits are conceived of as a starting point for or reinforcement of long-term collaborations, including joint conferences, publications and joint supervision of dual PhD students.
Calls for applications are typically circulated in late-fall, with deadlines in the winter quarter for the following academic year. French language skills are helpful but not necessary to apply to the position. The visit must take place during a non-teaching quarter and while hosting institutions are in session (September to April), otherwise the timing of the visit is negotiable.
