Contemporary Literature in English

Image of books in a library and a bust of Shakespeare.Northwestern’s partnership with the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS de Lyon), which was developed under the rubric of literature, theory and philosophy, has allowed for a number of exchanges between scholars interested in contemporary literature in English. In particular, members of faculty have focused on poetics and contemporary poetry. Combined with Northwestern’s Poetry and Poetics Colloquium, among other groups on campus, the ENS de Lyon offers resources such as the Institut d’Histoire des Représentations et des Idées dans les Modernités (IRHIM), which brings together a group of leading scholars in the history of ideas and representations, and the Centre d’Etudes et de Recherches Comparées sur la Création (CERCC), which works primarily on 20th-century and contemporary literature and arts.
